MagMates & Blank Magnets
What age are MagMates & Blank magnets suitable for?
MagMates and Blank magnets are designed for young children, generally from around 3 years and up. However, it is important that children are supervised by an adult when using this product.
They’re especially helpful during those early years when children are learning routines, building independence and understanding what comes next in their day.
What’s included in the MagMates set?
Each set includes 36 routine and home task magnets.
These cover common parts of a child’s day - from morning routines and mealtimes to play, chores and bedtime. Please see our product page for specific magnet tiles.
How big are the magnets?
Each magnet is 5cm x 5cm - a size that’s easy for little hands to pick up, move and use independently.
What are the magnets made from?
Our magnets are made from a firm foam material, making them lightweight, durable and easy for little hands to use. They’re also waterproof and easy to wipe clean for everyday family life.
As with any product containing magnets, adult supervision is recommended during use.
Where can I use them?
MagMates and Blank magnets can be used on most magnetic surfaces, including fridges, whiteboards and our magnetic routine boards.
Do I need a magnetic board to use MagMates?
No. MagMates can be used on any magnetic surface, such as your fridge.
Our magnetic boards provide a dedicated space to organise routines, schedules and progress tracking (see our MagMates & Magnetic Board bundles here).
How do I use MagMates and Blank Magnets?
You can arrange the magnets in a way that suits your child’s day - whether that’s a simple morning routine, after-school tasks or a full day flow.
They’re designed to be flexible, so you can adjust them as your child grows and routines change.
The Blank magnets allow flexibility in your routine by either writing on the magnet with whiteboard marker or customising with an image (stickers or printed images applied with contact work great)
Can I use these for children with additional needs?
Yes - many families find visual supports especially helpful for children who benefit from clear, predictable routines.

MagMates Magnetic Boards
What are the magnetic boards made from?
Our boards are made from a soft, flexible material called UniFelt and are a generous A3 size.
UniFelt uses a special water-based adhesive that gently clings to clean, smooth surfaces without leaving a sticky residue behind.
The front of the board has a magnetic surface designed for use with MagMates and Blank Magnets.
Where can I stick the boards?
Our magnetic boards work best on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces such as:
- Painted walls (fully cured)
- Doors
- Glass
- Mirrors
- Fridges
- Cabinets
- Smooth timber surfaces
What surfaces should I avoid?
Our boards may not stick well to:
- Heavily textured walls
- Brick or rendered surfaces
- Damp areas
- Freshly painted walls (allow paint to cure for 3-4 weeks)
- Wallpaper
- Walls with stain-resistant or specialty coatings
- Chalky or peeling paint
Because wall finishes vary greatly between homes, we recommend testing a small area first if you're unsure.
Will the board damage my walls?
Our boards are designed to be removable and reusable and generally do not leave residue behind.
However, because paint quality and wall finishes vary from home to home, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every surface.
We recommend applying the board only to clean, sound surfaces.
Avoid using on walls with:
- Peeling paint
- Cracked paint
- Poorly adhered paint
- Delicate wallpaper
Can I move and reposition the board?
Yes.
The boards are designed to be removable and repositionable.
Simply peel the board away slowly and reapply it to another suitable clean, flat surface.
How do I apply the board?
- Clean and dry your chosen surface.
- Peel away the protective backing.
- Place the board onto the surface and smooth it down.
Our A3 boards are easy to apply in one piece, but you can also peel back a small section of the backing first if you prefer to position the board gradually.
Can I write on the board?
Yes.
Our magnetic boards can be used with standard whiteboard markers.
Simply wipe clean with a soft cloth and reuse again and again.
Can I use the boards without MagMates?
Absolutely.
The boards can be used:
- With our MagMates and Blank Magnets
- With other branded magnets
- As a whiteboard
- For reminders and lists
- For personalised routines and schedules
